Field Work Tips and Experiences!

Bewaring of wildlife and staying vigilant is always neccesasry during outdoor excursion and field work. Some would scurry when they see a bear or a coyote… me?

I do too.

Well, I have yet encounter one up close but I would try not to run from one nor a bear. I hear that is what makes them chase you. Coyotes have always been a concern for me since residing in Arizona as a youth. As an adult, I love all wildlife but I am very aware that they are wild animals. They have to be protected and left where they are. You won’t have to worry about me “taking” them based on the old and current meaning of the word (according to the poor decision to change the definition of “take” per Endanageed Species Act). Needless to say, they should be protected and left to prosper with no negative impact to their habitats.

The warning sign applies to us humans and what the coyotes could do to us indirectly if we disturb their habitat. But this is also a warning about what impacts disturbing them collectively could do to their populations and impact to the food web. Please let’s keep this in mind when we create programs and engage in commercial projects that have little oversight.
